  • SYS 074: What is the Best Small Business Bank? Revolut, Tide, HSBC or Metro?

🎙 Have you also been looking for the top small business banks? Steve, too, and now, he’s got a clear winner!

Steve has tried four business banking apps in the last few years to find the best for all small business requirements.

In this episode, he shares the one that comes out in front and explains why.

KEY TAKEAWAYS: Comparing the Top Small Business Banks

  • Small businesses’ banking world can often be archaic, clunky and backward in its approach and operation.
  • HSBC is difficult to get an account with; getting one can take three months. Metro required visits to the actual bank to set up, and Tide was difficult to complete. Revolut was by far the simplest to apply for.
  • One of the key functionalities you require as a small business is the ability to authorise other people to operate the account. HSBC allows for this, but it is not ideal. Tide does not even allow for this. Metro facilities are long, archaic, difficult, and expensive. Revolut was extraordinarily easy.
  • Revolut also allows you to manage multiple currencies by opening multiple accounts using one app. Their charges are also less, and their exchange rates are better.
  • Authorisation is achieved using biometrics within the Revolut app, which speeds things up tremendously and allows for app integration.
  • Revolut offers ‘one-off’ payment cards. You can also create cards you can send to staff with authorisation for one fixed payment. The best small business bank!

💬 ‘And without a doubt, the winner out of those four, I’m not going to hold you in suspense for the entire episode for you to find out what this is. The winner, without a shadow of a doubt, is Revolut.’

💬 ‘HSBC shut down entirely over the COVID period. You could not even apply for an account. It took me three months to open an account.’

💬 ‘It’s pretty painless with Revolut. It’s not as quick as it could be, but it’s actually not too bad. I did that remotely- I live in Sweden, and my staff members live in the UK.’

💬 ‘I’ve got a US dollar account. I’ve also got a Euro account. I’ve got a British Pounds account as well.’
